Mumbai: Work on east-west road bridges in eastern suburbs to speed up

North East MP Manoj Kotak takes stock of the status of the under-construction Road Over Bridges in his constituency

Work on bridges in the Eastern Suburbs will be speeded up after a review meeting was taken on Tuesday by elected representatives. Manoj Kotak, BJP leader and Member of Parliament along with Mihir Kotecha, Member of the Legislative Assembly held a review meeting with Municipal officials on Tuesday.

The elected representatives sought information on the status of the under-construction Road Over Bridges (ROBs) connecting East and West segments at Vidya Vihar, Vikhroli, and Nahur. Additional Commissioner Vijay Singhal and other officials were present in the review meeting.

Regarding the Mulund Goregaon Link Road (MGLR), it is expected that the formalities of the contract and work order would be completed by December 2019. However, unless the 850 PAPs - who have been affected by the road widening are rehabilitated, the project will not proceed speedily. Hence, Nort East MP Manoj Kotak emphasised that their rehabilitation should be done on a war footing.

Kotak expressed displeasure with the slow process of work at the Nahur ROB. He also pointed out that a service road should be immediately built from the Nahur Station to the ROB. The Additional Commissioner ordered a separate contract for the road and instructed the officials to start work on both sides of the Nahur Station immediately.

As per the suggestion by Kotak, the Additional Commissioner ordered that the land belonging to Godrej and other private parties which were coming in the line of the Vikhroli railway flyover be acquired within 15 days and work be started there.

Kotak opined that the Ghatkopar railway flyover on the Andheri Ghatkopar Link Road (AGLR) should land near the BEST Bus Depot on the Eastside so that the traffic from Pant Nagar and Laxmi Nagar continue smoothly. Additional Commissioner Vijay Singhal agreed to issue orders accordingly.

Kotak also pointed out about the extremely slow pace of work at the Vidya Vihar railway flyover and requested the Add Commissioner to conduct an on the spot survey immediately. Citizens of North East Mumbai are appreciating the efforts taken by MP Manoj Kotak in order to complete the crucial flyovers joining East and West segments at these places and solve the traffic problem.

Besides Kotak and Khotecha, Bhandup Corporator Sakshi Dalvi and BJP Maharashtra Spokesman Bhalchandra Shirsat were also present for the review meeting.
