Exam stress aside, hall tickets for the third semester exams caused much headache and heart-in-the-mouth moments for students of Rajarshi Shahu College of Law. Many who had passed in certain papers after getting reevaluation done have those very papers listed against their names in the hall tickets. Though a clarification has been issued, with the exam just a few days away, it was enough worry the Vikhroli college students.

The confusion
A second-year student explained, “I was shown as failed in three papers in the second semester — environment law, family law and criminal law. I applied for reevaluation and cleared all. Now, for the third semester exam, I should have only the current academic year papers on my hall ticket. Hence, imagine my shock on seeing the earlier three papers on my hall ticket too.”

Another who had failed in environment law and criminal law had a similar story . “After reevaluation I have to clear only criminal law now. But in my hall ticket both papers are mentioned. It’s obviously confusing,” the student said.

The clarification
President of the Student Law Council Sachin Pawar said, “Hall tickets were prepared before the reevaluation result was declared and submitted. Hence this gaffe. The college has said that the students need not worry if they have cleared the papers, because their latest result will be considered. But it obviously leads to stress, especially with the exam approaching.”

“Cases from this college have come to light. But there might be similar complaints from other colleges due to this process,” added Pawar.

When contacted, the principal, advocate Sanjay Singh, said, “Those who have passed in the earlier papers need not reappear for them.”
