Mumbai Food: Existing brands will have a field day in 2018

SodaBottleOpenerWala

Treats for SoBo
Undecided
Prolific restaurateur AD Singh's Olive Group has lots in store for south Mumbai this year. While SodaBottleOpenerWala's new outlet (in pic) opens at Lower Parel's High Street Phoenix this week, expect Hello Guppy and Toast & Tonic, and most possibly even The Fatty Bao, beyond the Bandra-Worli sea link later this year. There's also a new café-style property on the cards, which will launch in the Capital and come to Mumbai by the year-end.

Izaya

Thailand meets Japan
July
Buoyed by the success of Izaya in Nariman Point, Farrokh Khambata brings it to BKC sometime in July. The robata Thai restaurant offers Thai and Malaysian dishes prepared using Japanese grilling techniques. With this expansion, the corporates can also enjoy light-as-air sa khoo, Thai-style dumplings and Chiang Mai-style tofu with white edamame.

Burgers

Go organic
January
After making its mark in BKC and Borivali, The American Joint launches this week at Panchpakhadi, Thane. The all-veg restaurant offers American food, including burgers, mac-and-cheese and Tex-Mex nachos, spiked with Indian flavours and prepared with locally grown, organic fruits and veggies.
