 Recipe of the week: Grilled Pineapple with Spiced Caramel sauce


A bowl of dessert is the perfect way to end your sumptuous meal. Dessert need not always be gulabjamun or rasgulla. In today’s time, the concept of dessert has gone way ahead of traditional ‘desi mithai’ and elements like fruits, whipped cream, dry fruits, cookies, yogurt have intruded into the sweet course. Some desserts are really easy to make and yummy to consume. If you want to explore the fruit side of dessert, then this post is going to be of utmost help.


This week, we bring to you the recipe of ‘Grilled Pineapple with Spiced Caramel sauce’


Ingredients:

1. Pineapple – 1.5 kgs
2. Sugar 500 Gms
3. Water 150 Ml
4. Low-fat Cream 150 ml
5. Cinnamon Powder 1 tbsp
6. Cumin Powder 1 ½ tsp
7. Chilli Powder 2 tsp
8. Salt to taste
9. Chat Masala powder 1 tsp
10. Butter 50 Gms (optional)

Method:

Step 1 – Trim the top and bottom of the pineapple and cut it into 6 wedges length wise.
Step 2 – In a medium sauce, pan add sugar, half of the water & cinnamon powder, cook till the sugar is melted and caramelized.
Step 3 – Stir in cumin powder, chilli powder, salt, chat masala and remaining water cook for further 2 mins and gradually add low-fat cream and stir vigorously and cook for another 2 min ( adding butter). Remove from heat.
Step 4 – Brush the prepared sauce on the pineapple and grill it on a grooved griddle plate for about 3 mins. Place the cooked pineapple on a serving plate and drizzle the prepared caramel sauce and serve hot.

Pineapple, sugar, chat masala, and whipped cream just strike the perfect balance to lend the meal a sweet and sour taste.
