Young Boys in first division final
Young Boys’ goalkeeper Uzair Ansari affected two saves to help the Madanpura outfit enter the final of the first division Mumbai District Football Association (MDFA) League.

After a goalless draw, Uzair made two superb saves in the tie-breaker against Willingdon Catholic Gymkhana, Santacruz to win the first semi-final 4-2 at St Xavier’s ground, Parel.

In the second semi-final, goalkeeper Vinay Singh proved equally proficient under the bar to help Springfield, Vashi rally from a first half deficit to overcome St Sebastian, Chembur 4-1 via the penalty shootout.

City karatekas shine at state meet
Students of the Om Samartha Bharat Vyayam Mandir, Mumbai displayed astonishing skills and won various medals in the recently concluded 17th state-level karate championship organised by Maharashtra Sports Karate Association. Winners in Kata: Tushar Mastkar, Anuj Joshi, Unnati Patil, Hritik Patil, Vinayak Dalvi. Kumite: Bhupesh Pednekar, Unnati Patil, Priam Mhalgi, Aishwarya Gamare; Kata Silver medal winners: Komal Mestri, Ayudha Patil, Unnati Patil, Aishwarya Gamare; Kumite bronze medal winner: Komal Mestri.
