A 27-year-old model and TV actress hanged herself in her boyfriend’s Andheri flat on Wednesday night after he refused to marry her.

The deceased, identified as Karamjeet Kaur alias Neha Virdi, who hails from Delhi, had come to visit her boyfriend, Dipendra Singh alias Devraj Singh, a day before Eid. She was staying in his flat in Andheri west’s Sahjeevan Society.
They met six months ago at a party in Mumbai and since the past month, Singh said in his statement, Kaur had been pressurising him to marry her. But Singh, a Bollywood actor and director, didn’t want to as he said his career had just kicked off.
On Wednesday night, Kaur called her friends to Singh’s place to convince him but after listening to both of them, the friends suggested they part ways. He left the place with the guests only to find her dead when he returned. When she didn’t open the door for him, he went around the window and saw her hanging from the ceiling. He, immediately, called the Amboli Police, who rushed to the spot and opened the door with the help of a locksmith.
Kaur was then taken to Kokilaben Hospital, where she was declared dead on arrival.
Police said they have not found any suicide note. “We are probing the matter and questioning Singh and the model’s friends,” said Bharat Gaikwad senior inspector from Amboli police station.
