A Playeer was allowed to play a Twenty20 for his employers despite being a member of the Mumbai Ranji Trophy squad which is doing battle against Punjab at the Wankhede Stadium.

Parag Khanapurkar represented Mumbai Customs in the qualifying rounds games of the All India T20 tournament at the DY Patil Stadium, Nerul yesterday as the Mumbai team batted on Day Two of their Ranji game.

Khanapurkar had a go with bat and ball, but without much success against Akbar Travels whom Mumbai Customs beat by four wickets. "What's the issue here," asked Mumbai coach Sulakshan Kulkarni.

"This has happened many times before. Since we were batting today (yesterday), there was no problem in sending him. His match was held in the morning and he joined the (Ranji) team in the afternoon," said Kulkarni.

Though Khanapurkar is a squad player, two players in the Mumbai playing XI - Avishkar Salvi and Sushant Marathe - injured themselves on the first day of the tie when Mumbai were fielding.
