Mumbai police nab extortionist in Ahmedabad

A 30-year-old extortionist who was blackmailing a man online has been nabbed

Mumbai police nab extortionist in Ahmedabad

The city's Crime Branch have arrested a 30-year-old man on extortion charges.


The Property Cell arrested accused Nikhil Lala, who is a garment dealer from Ahmedabad, Gujarat.


According to the police, the accused allegedly posed as a girl on a chat room and stuck up a conversation with a man, who resides in Sion. As the relationship between the two deepened, the accused, with the help of Splitcamera software, posed as a girl online and even showed the victim some videos posing as girl. He then convinced the victim to shoot some videos in the nude and share it with him.


“After some time the accused revealed to the victim that he was a boy and demanded Rs 80,000u00a0for the victim's videos. He threatened to post the videos on Facebook if he was refused,” u00a0said Nandkumar Gopale,u00a0senior police inspector of the Property Cell of the Mumbai crime branch.

The victim though lodged a complaint with the Sion police and the property cell traced the accused to Ahmedabad where he was nabbed.
