Mumbai's Prithvi Shaw elated to be picked by the Gloucestershire second XI
Mumbai's Prithvi Shaw is elated to have been picked by the Gloucestershire County Cricket Club (England) for their second eleven yesterday.
It is one of the 18 county clubs that make up the English and Welsh national cricket structure. Impressed by his talent, Gloucestershire coaches who saw him play for a local team, picked him.
The young cricketer was invited by Bradfield College and Julian Wood Cricket Academy in England to participate in a cricket and personality development program.
“I am really excited to have been selected for the Gloucestershire second XI. It’s a golden opportunity for me, as the standard of the second XI is also quite good,” said the 14-year-old. Shaw had a successful stint in Manchester last year where he scored 1500 runs at an average of 85.00 and claimed 65 wickets. But this time, he was keen on playing with the big boys.
“Instead of scoring hundreds in school cricket, I would prefer scoring quality half-centuries against better attacks,” said the Santacruz resident.
