Acting on specific information, Inspector Sanjay Nale of the RAK Marg police station, under the supervision of DCP Zone IV Ashok Dudhe, raided three rooms of Kamgar Sadan Co-Operative housing society near Currey Road railway station on Wednesday night. Many people were found gambling on tables with playing cards.

Police said that Police Naik Mahesh Pawar, who is attached with the Local Arms Headquarters and resides in Naigaon police line, was also among arrested people. Police have not disclosed the Railway TC’s name. Cops have seized Rs 1.45 lakh cash from the spot and also material used in gambling.

“We arrested all of them under relevant sections of Gambling Act and handed them over to the Kalachowki police station for further action,” said Nale, adding the person who owns this illegal business, Ganesh Bandekar is absconding.
