When the entire city was halted due to torrential rains, it was a happy and comfortable experience for over 14 thousand Mumbaikars who travelled by the elevated Monorail from Chembur to Sant Gadge Maharaj Chowk and back.

The Mumbai Metropolitan Region Development Authority (MMRDA) also showed a great sense of timing and alertness by running the Monorail services for two extra hours - from 11 pm to 1 am. This was done keeping in mind the safety and security of the commuters.

Many Monorail commuters, who had a safe commute, expressed their happiness by taking to social networking platform Twitter. One of the users who goes by the name Chandan Jha wrote, "Monorail is running exceptionally, even in heavy rains! Looks like we can depend on them in the heavy rains."

It also must be noted that the Monorail collected a staggering revenue of Rs.3,57,630 yesterday.
