Mumbai got three points while Saurashtra bagged one. Arpit Vasavada’s century was the only highlight of the day, as the hosts, resuming at overnight 248 for 8, managed to add 52 runs in reply to tourists’ 606-5. Vasavada, who was on 83, remained unbeaten on 111 runs. Dhawal Kulkarni removed Unadkat and then Siddharth Trivedi to finish with four for 58.

However, captain Ajit Agarkar did not enforce the follow-on and decided to bat again. In the second innings, Mumbai made 169 for four.

Wasim Jaffer and Rohit Sharma, both scored 71 each, were the chief contributors for Mumbai. Ankeet Chavan (1) and Iqbal Abdulla (0) were at the crease when both captains agreed to call off the match. Mumbai now have 14 points from six games and are placed sixth in the points table while Saurashtra are third with 16 points.

Rajasthan crushed
Meanwhile, in Bhubaneshwar, all-rounder Karan Sharma grabbed a career-best eight-wicket haul as Railways crushed defending champions Rajasthan by an innings and 12 runs to record their first Ranji Trophy win of the season yesterday.

Replying to the Railways’ mammoth first innings score of 405, Rajasthan followed on after being dismissed for 135. Their second essay ended at 258 with Karan being the wrecker-in-chief in their Group A clash.
