The Mumbai Cricket Association (MCA) did not find much of a problem in searching for a new owner after one of the six-team franchises withdrew from the inaugural T20 Mumbai League on Monday. Yesterday, the MCA was approached by Route SMS, a mobile company, who agreed to match the bid of R6.10 crore of Shree Naman Developers, the team that pulled out. The MCA has called for an urgent Managing Committee meeting today to ratify the decision on the sixth team owner. Route SMS owns several MCA-affiliated maidan clubs. The auction for the T20 Mumbai League will be held on Saturday. The league will be held from March 11 to 21 at the Wankhede Stadium. It is also understood that the coaches and support staff members will be finalised by the franchises tomorrow.

Former Test cricketers from Mumbai have been nominated as team mentors while current India players like Rohit Sharma, Ajinkya Rahane, Shardul Thakur, Dhawal Kulkarni and Shreyas Iyer, and Ranji Trophy heroes like Suryakumar Yadav and Siddhesh Lad will be icon players. Mumbai skipper Aditya Tare Rate is likely to miss the T20 league after suffering an injury during the DY Patil T20 Cup yesterday.
