Mumbai's Atharva Ankolekar, Varun Lavande and Suved Parkar can't wait to adorn their India U-19 colours in the Youth Asia Cup to be held in Sri Lanka from September 3. Bowling all-rounder Atharva, who bowls left-arm spin, is now enjoying more variations and batsmen Suved and Varun are feeling more confident as they worked on mental toughness at the NCA in Bangalore.
Atharva and Varun, who had the experience of playing in the 'A' and 'B' division of the Dr HD Kanga Cricket League from the age of 14, representing Parel Sporting Club, are now eager to showcase their talent against Sri Lanka, Pakistan, Bangladesh and Afghanistan.

"I want to perform well with ball and bat to help the team win the Asia Cup. Our spin bowling coaches Narendra Hirwani sir and Rajib Dutta sir advised me to continue bowling the same line and length. Earlier, Hirwani sir guided me to use the crease more while bowling and bowl variations," Atharva told mid-day.
Though Atharva has represented India U-19 in three games, Varun, a middle order batsman, will be on his first overseas tour. "Getting a chance to represent India U-19 is a big opportunity and motivation for me. I want to be fully prepared," said Varun. Opening batsman Suved said he is a much-focused batsman now. "Our batting coach Vikram Rathour sir gave us some vital tips on how to improve our mental strength," said Suved.
