After his last performance in the city a year ago, veteran Pakistani singer Ghulam Ali Khan returns to Mumbai for a concert today that will generate funds for drought-hit villages
To lend his support to a social cause and to regale music lovers with his lilting melodies, renowned Pakistani singer Ghulam Ali Khan will take to the stage in the city for a performance, today. The proceeds from the concert will be contributed to Maharashtra’s drought-hit areas.

“It’s always great to return to Mumbai for a concert. My fans here love me a lot and I love them too. This programme is even more special because it’s for a social cause. When I was invited to be part of this event, I was more than willing because I’m always ready to lend my support to events that are aimed at helping others,” says Khan, who will perform some of his greatest hits during the concert.
The legendary artiste was slated to perform in the city earlier this year as well but because of sour political relations and tension along the Line of Control (LOC), the concert was cancelled. However, Khan refrains from divulging any details about that cancellation.
“There was no such major problem. I got busy; hence we cancelled that show,” he says weighing his words, adding that “Music is loved by all and can transcend boundaries. Artistes and music lovers should not focus on Anything else. Everything else is unimportant.”
On: Today, 7 pm onwards
At: Shree Shanmukhananda-Chandrashekarendra Saraswathi Auditorium, Sion.
