Must catch events this weekend

Fancy a rendezvous with The thinker?
Till February 27
Where The Galleria, Trident, Nariman Point.

The image of a man in grave mental conflict, resting his chin on his fingers, is one that most of us will find familiar.

The iconic sculpture can be attributed to Auguste Rodin, a legendary French sculptor whose works are being exhibited in the city for the first time, along with those of Damien Hirst, an English artist. The exhibition titled, The Masters of European Contemporary Art will also see works by David Kracov, Lorenzo Quinn, Dganit Blechner, David Kracov and Franck Tordjmann. Part of the proceeds from the initiative go to I Am Foundation.

Meet hamlet with a funny nose and make-up
On Today (9pm), Saturday and Sunday (6pm and 9 pm)
Where Prithvi Theatre, 20, Janki Kutir, Juhu Church Road, Vile Parle (W).
Call 26149546

Let's start with a warning. If you are a Shakespearean purist, give this play a miss. But for those who appreciate good theatre with a contemporary twist, Hamlet: The Clown Prince is a must-watch. Enacted in a bizarre yet humorous mix of English and gibberish, the play follows a bunch of clowns putting up the classic tragedy. They make an utter mess of it by forgetting mid-way that they are enacting the play, add their own life's misgivings to it and even involve the audience. Directed by Rajat Kapoor, the adaptation has its moments and will leave you in splits.

No more staid screwdrivers, bartender!
On Tomorrow, 3pm to 6.30 pm
Where HQ (Headquarters), 166, MG Road, opposite Regal Cinema, Colaba.
Call 9819496695 / 9920482273

Cost Rs 1,000 per person
The next time you have your friends over, don't serve them the staid Screwdriver or compel them to mix up their own uninspired drinks. Instead, get behind the bar and shake up a potent drink that will make your guests go goggle-eyed long before the high hits them. If stirring and shaking excites you, sign up for a Home Bartending Made Easy Workshop that will show you how to innovate with your poison. An expert bartender will teach participants to make five different cocktails with rum, vodka, whiskey or gin. Every participant will be provided with his or her equipment and ingredients for the night. Basic bar essentials, equipment and books will
be on sale too.

Get stumped by World Cup wows
Till April 2
Where EarthPlate, Hotel Sahara Star, opposite Domestic Airport, Vile Parle (E).
Call 39807444

Cheering for Team India at the World Cup 2011 invariably comes with its share of offers and specials across the city's favourite restaurants and watering holes. So why do we like the ones at Sahara Star? Because this is probably the only time we can chill in its swish interiors without burning a hole in our pockets. Along with a 72-inch plasma TV to showcase all the action, you can take advantage of offers like unlimited soft drinks or iced tea plus one starter for Rs 600, unlimited beer with a starter for Rs 1,200 or a bucket of three beers with a starter for Rs 800. A buffet with beer costs Rs 1,450 while an all-day dining experience with beer comes at Rs 2,750. Not too bad, eh?

He urges you to stand up for your music
On Today, 5.30 pm
Where Oxford Bookstore, Apeejay House, 3, Dinshaw Vachha Road, near KC College, Churchgate.

From noise pollution to a space crunch, high entertainment tax to a plethora of permissions, resident complaints to security concerns, a series of factors have become hurdles in organising a cultural extravaganza or a live music concert in the city. Before musicians start moving out to explore greener pastures and better opportunities elsewhere, there are some who are giving their all for this noble cause. Live stage singer and performer Adam Avil performs at a bookstore today to appeal to the powers that be to not kill live music. Join him in his endeavour, enjoy good music and pick up a few good reads while you're at it.
