My parents don't know about my love

Dear Diana,
I met this girl three years ago in office. She is a Gujarati while I am a Maharastrian. We went around all this while and now we are serious about each other. My parents are clueless about her. As it is Ganpati time and there is festive fervour, I feel I should tell them about her. It will be an auspicious start to a new beginning. Do you it is right to bring her home? I really have no clue how they will react.

Dear PP,
It is a good idea but you must tell them now. As you are clueless about how they will react, you need to break the news to avoid unpleasant situations, if at all, in front of her and your other relatives. Explain to them that you were waiting for an auspicioius moment and Ganpati is the right time. This way both the girl and your folks will be comfortable with each other when they meet. Best of luck.

So what if I am young?
Dear Diana,
I am 19 and my guy is 26. He thinks I am still a kid. But I am confident and aware of what is happening around the world. I don't know what makes him think in this way. I love him and he loves me so why does he treat me like this?
-- PN

Dear PN,
Your guy thinks like that because may be you allowed yourself to be like that initially. Is it because of something you said or did to him? You are only a few years younger to him. So what's the big deal? There could be some behaviour of yours that makes him think in this way. Some trait of yours maybe. Ask him and change his perception.

We are throwing caution to the wind
Dear Diana,
My girlfriend and I have been in a physical relationship. We do plan to marry and have been having sex frequently. I wanted my first time to be with a special person. But now I am scared of her getting pregnant. We have been throwing caution to the wind in the heat of the moment.

Dear AV,
You better be scared about what you are doing. What if your girls gets pregnant? Have you thought of such a scenario? There are several safe sex techniques available. You need to educate yourself. Moreover you might (or might not) fall prey to sexually transmitted diseases. So it is better to be safe than sorry.
