'My parents don't let me wear what I like'

Dr LoveMy parents are very conservative and insist on me wearing traditional clothes when I go to college. My friends, on the other hand, wear anything they like and it becomes very awkward when we go to a restaurant or pub, because I am the only one dressed like a housewife. I can't mention this to my parents because they will simply ask me to stop hanging out with my friends or stop going to restaurants. I feel this is extremely unfair, because they aren't letting me live my life on my own terms. I don't want to fight with them about it, but this may seriously affect how my friends treat me and, at some point, prevent me from even finding a good guy because no one will date someone wearing the kind of clothes I do. Please help.
You will have problems adjusting to your parents' expectations and wishes for a while, because they may not see things from your perspective. Your complaints are justified, of course, because you will obviously compare your situation to that of your friends', who presumably have less traditional parents. Do keep in mind that letting go is a slow process for some people though. Your parents won't try and hold you back forever, nor will they impose their ideas and beliefs upon you beyond a point, because they can't. You are an adult with your own ideas and view of the world, and they will accept this eventually and come to terms with it. I suggest you try and be patient with them until that happens, because they have your best interests at heart even if it doesn't seem that way at the moment.

Is it okay for me to not tell my boyfriend everything about my past? We have only been dating for a few months and I am not comfortable just yet.
Of course it is. You are not being held at gunpoint. Open up when you feel comfortable enough to.
