My term has not ended: Abey Kuruvilla
Abey Kuruvilla appeared upset after the MCA abruptly ended his tenure as senior selection committee member.
There were reports that the former India pacer had ended his four-year term as Mumbai selector. But Kuruvilla quashed all that talk, saying: “I still had two years of my term.”
He said the MCA had not informed him about their decision to exclude him from the committee. Kuruvilla would often chair selection meetings in the absence of Sandeep Patil. He was at one point fiercely backed by the MCA as the West Zone candidate for the senior India team selection committee.
He lost out after Patil was hand-picked by top officials of the Indian board. Kuruvilla was chairman of the junior selection committee which picked the victorious U-19 World Cup team last year.
