Will launch eight private dailies in addition to the state-owned ones

Myanmar allows publication of newspapers

Myanmar has allowed temporary publication of eight private daily newspapers starting April 14 in addition to the state-owned ones, the official media reported on Saturday.


The Myanmar government will allow the launch of private dailies which have been permitted for the first time by the new civilian government.


The newspapers that are going to be published from April 14 are Khit Moe Daily, Shwe Naing Ngan Thit Daily, Union Daily, Empire Daily, the Messenger, Up-Date Daily, Myanmar Newsweek Daily, and Mizzima Daily, The eight daily newspapers were scrutinised out of a total of 17 which applied.u00a0
