The season for children to have fun with the arts is here. Summer Fiesta 2016, a six week-long festival hosted by the National Centre for the Performing Arts (NCPA), starts from May 2. It features 28 workshops and 21 plays by prominent experts and theatre groups.

The workshops at the seventh edition of the festival will comprise acting, art and craft, communication skills, creative writing, photography, theatre, comedy and dance, conducted by personalities in the fields of training children.
Deepa Gahlot, head — programming, theatre and film, NCPA, says that there is something for every child in the festival. “Over the years, children have enjoyed a series of plays and a range of engaging and creativity-enhancing activities across genres. Children from the age of 4 all the way till 18 can pick and choose from an exciting selection of 21 plays put up by some of the finest theatre groups in Mumbai,” she says.
Magician Kruti Parekh will conduct a magic workshop, Miss Meenal’s Photoshala will build an interest in photography among the children. There will be a Mayurbhanj Chhau Dance workshop in which exponent Santosh Nair will teach the basics of the martial dance form, performed with masks.
