Outdoor shoots in the city seem to have become a challenge for filmmakers, who often complain about being at the mercy of local authorities.

And if the grapevine is to be believed, the shoot for a Marathi film, Balkadu, in a SoBo five-star was disrupted by a few cops on Monday afternoon. A source said, “The shoot was being carried out on the hotel terrace throughout the day. However, it was abruptly called off in the afternoon when some policemen interrupted it."

A source, who was present on the sets at the time of the incident, suggests that apart from the cops, a few officials from the BMC and RTO also reached the spot and stalled the shoot. “The crew was not allowed to complete the daylong schedule despite having obtained the requisite permission from various quarters,” the source added.

Ashish Raikar, associate director of the film, confirmed the news. “We were shooting in the hotel premises and had parked our production vans in the designated parking area. However, the local authorities and cops came in together and started creating problems for us. Neither our pleas nor the proof of permission were entertained. So, we were forced to call off the shoot,” he said.
