Seven months after his death in German Bakery bomb blast, Gokul Nepali's family still waiting to get compensation
Family members of the waiter who lost his life in the February 13 German bakery blast are still waiting to get some compensation.
Gokul Nepali's kin have been pleading to the authorities to release the compensation amount as soon as possible.
His mother Juthi, wife Maina and seven-month-old child are struggling to feed themselves. They were even forced to borrow money from other villagers.
After making several rounds of the collector's office in the city in March, they also approached the Nepal embassy in Delhi in August. The family also made several visits to Nepal foreign minister's office in Kathmandu.u00a0
When all the efforts went in vein Gokul's uncle Janak approached MID DAY because of the authorities refusal to attend to the family.u00a0
Janak said, "We don't know what to do; all our efforts to draw their attention have been futile."
Janak had travelled to Kathmandu to meet the personal assistant of Foreign Minister Sujata Koirala, but had to return empty-handed.
Gopal Karkee, the manager of German bakery said, "It is unfortunate that the family is still awaiting for their compensation."
President of Sharamik Majdoor Union Raj Thakur said: "About 38 people were working in the bakery of which five were injured. Gokul was killed in the blast. Gokul's family have sent the necessary documents to the Nepali embassy but nothing has happened yet."
Thakur said "Janak, who is supporting the family is totally disillusioned because of the apathy of the authorities."
