Pune police hope the viscera of Nigerian national, Mbamara Chidera Festus, who died under mysterious circumstances in the wee hours of Saturday, would help them ascertain the cause of his death

However, the post mortem report from Sassoon Hospital statedthat there was no injury found on the deceased’s body. A case of accidental death was registered. Festus, who owned a clothing business in Mumbai and Delhi, was admitted to a private hospital in Fatimanagar but was declared dead on arrival.

Senior inspector at Wanowrie police station Bajirao Mohite said, “Festus came to meet his friends at Shalimar society in Kondhwa where he partied till late Saturday night and consumed alcohol with his four to five friends. Prima facie, due to excessive intake of alcohol, Festus complained of severe chest pain to his friend, who later took him to the hospital.”

Mohite added that Chukwuma, a friend of the deceased had accompanied Festus to the hospital but left for Mumbai after the doctors declared Festus dead at the hospital. Chukwuma was expected to come to Pune late on Sunday to submit the deceased’s passport and record his statement. Festus’ stepbrother had also visited the city to enquire about the incident.
