Nimrat Kaur, who rose to fame with her film, The Lunchbox, has landed a role in the American TV series, Homeland. Earlier there were reports that Ali Fazal and Sapna Pabbi had auditioned for Homeland, and a source close to Ali Fazal had said that the actor could not be a part of the series due to a clash of dates.

Now a source close to Nimrat Kaur reveals that the actress was surprised when she got a call from the unit of Homeland. “It’s a big deal for her,” says the source. Understandably, the actress is over the moon about the project. “Pretty fun for someone who watched the pilot after the screen test! Season 4 Homeland, it is,” Nimrat tweeted on Friday.

When contacted, Nimrat said, “I was thrilled, my friends and family went crazy when they got to know that I have been selected for Homeland. But since I am not into TV shows, my first reaction was that I needed to watch it. I started shooting from July 24 and I will be shooting for it on and off till November.”

Along with her, Mad Men star Mark Moses and Art Malik will also be seen in the drama. A source adds that Nimrat will be seen as a high-level ISI (Inter-Services Intelligence) operative, while Moses’ character, Dennis, is supposed to be an academic teaching political science at Islamabad’s Quaid-i-Azam University. The fourth season of Homeland is currently being shot in South Africa, where Cape Town is being shown as Islamabad.
