Relatives mull low-profile ceremony at the left arm spinner's Dadar residence with prevailing situation in mind; conditional bail granted till June 6
It’s not the most agreeable of circumstances to solemnise a marriage, and the family of suspended Rajasthan Royals cricketer Ankeet Chavan has decided to tone down the pageantry. According to a relative, while the venue was booked before IPL season 6 began, after the scandal involving Chavan, S Sreesanth and Ajit Chandila coming to the fore they started having second thoughts about the grand ceremony planned earlier.

“We had booked the wedding hall in Dadar for June 2, but after this incident no one is in a mood to celebrate in a big way. We were about to cancel the booking of the hall, but there were differing views in the family about this,” a relative of Chavan said. According to another relative, they have now left the final decision to Ankeet. If he too doesn’t want a spectacle, the family would conduct a low-key ceremony at its Dadar residence.

“We are very glad that he has got bail, as earlier all the people, including his fiancée Neha Sambhare, were very edgy, as his first plea had been rejected. Now we are just waiting for June 2. Ankeet’s father and brother were in Delhi to help him in his bail appeal, and when Anil (the father) called up and informed us on Thursday about Ankeet getting reprieve till June 6, we were all overjoyed,” he added.
The relative also claimed that Neha has been very supportive of Ankeet, and since the time the whole scandal surfaced, she has been coming to the Chavans’ Dadar residence in the morning and going back home in the evening. The couple met in college and was dating for eight years, till the engagement on July 1, 2012.
