A police officer of the Property Cell said, “Kothari’s role was discovered after the police arrested bookie Ramesh Vyas and learnt that he had given one of his phones to Kothari.” Kothari was apparently constantly in touch with Vyas, who operated a telephone exchange for bookies. He was also in touch with bookies Sanjay Jaipur and Pawan Jaipur, who have also been arrested. Kothari was produced at the Killa court after the arrest and was remanded to police custody till July 31.
Meanwhile, Sanjay and Pawan Jaipur were asked by the High Court to appear before an investigation officer to further probe the scandal.
Niket Kaushik, additional commissioner of police, Crime Branch, said, “The Jaipur brothers have applied for anticipatory bail and the court has postponed its hearing till Friday.”u00a0
