Now, frogs in mid-day meal in UP

After incidents of dead lizard and insecticides being detected in mid-day meals, frogs have now been found in the meal served at two primary schools in Moradabad and Chitrakoot districts of Uttar Pradesh, prompting authorities to order an inquiry.

A dead frog was found in "Khichdi" served to students at primary school in Dilari block yesterday and four children were taken ill after consuming the meal, official sources said.u00a0


In Chitrakoot, similar incident was reported yesterday. Taking note of the incidents, Uttar Pradesh Basic Education Minister Ram Govind Chowdhury today asked district magistrate of the two districts to probe the matter and initiate strict action against guilty.


"DMs of Moradabad and Chitrakoot have been asked to probe reports that frog was found in mid-day meals. Strict action should be initiated against cooks, teachers and officer found guilty," Chowdhury said, addressing a review meeting here.


Chowdhury said that it was responsibility of cooks and teachers to ensure quality of the food served in mid-day meal and if any complaint was found FIR would be registered against them.

He said that strict disciplinary action will also be initiated against block education officers and Basic Siksha Adhikari (BSA). Meanwhile, in Mathura, an insect was today detected in mid-day meal before it was served to students in Primary School Darbai in Mant Tehsil. After the authorities noticed the insect, the food was not served to children.u00a0
