Our first superstar

‘RIP Rajesh Khanna. Another legend leaves us. Listening to Yeh Shaam Mastani as I stroll down memory lane again.’ That tweet from Josh Shahryar was one of many paying tribute to the late star. A certain Jitesh Pillaai tweeted: ‘Will remember you with the crinkly smile and slight tilt.’ In the words of Kunal Kohli: ‘The word superstar was used first for Rajesh Khanna: His style, charm, smile, songs and films. He will always live on.’ There was this comment from someone using the handle OB_noxious: ‘Pushpa has all the reasons to cry now. Bye Bye, Kaka!’ Sandhya tweeted: ‘I was born in the wrong generation. RIP Rajesh Khanna, you still make my mom blush.’ And from Prachi V Sharma: ‘That awkward moment when you post RIP Rajesh Khanna on Facebook and someone presses the ‘like’ button.’

What you wear
NCW Chairperson Mamta Sharma reportedly asked women to ‘dress carefully,’ prompting a barrage of angry comments in the process. Seema Goswami tweeted: ‘I have 2 questions for Mamta Sharma and Alka Lamba. Have you ever been groped or felt up in public? And what were you wearing at the time?’ Doctor at Large added: ‘Mamta Sharma has been misunderstood. When she said women should dress carefully, she meant they should spend one hour before the mirror.’ There was also this from someone using the handle KangressPR: ‘The young men of Gurgaon demand she take such irresponsible comments back immediately.’

Birthday boy
Former South African President Nelson Mandela celebrated his 94th birthday and clogged timelines for a while. Fana Mokoena tweeted: ‘Mandela has taught us to fight tooth and nail for what is right and to stand unwavering in the harshest of tribulations. We salute.’

The last word
From journalist Rajdeep Sardesai: ‘You know you’re getting old when a college mate suddenly passes away. Life is too short, live it well. Less rancour, more joy.’
