A constable attached to a city police station, who helped his department crack several cases, and nab absconders and criminals, has been awarded approximately Rs 2 lakh for his achievements. However, he hasn’t received the said amounttill date.


He is not the only constable to suffer from the government’s apathy. There are thousands of police personnel who the home department is yet to pay cash rewards to.

As per the information given by the Additional Commissioner of Police (administration) Abdur Rehman, the total reward amount due for the police personnel from 2011 to 2013 is a whopping Rs 1.1 crore.

“After every successful case cracked, the police officer and his team gets a cash reward and it varies from case to case. However, the rewards declared between 2011 and 2012 have still not been paid,” said Rehman.

He said that the reason behind the delay in payment is lack of funds and thus the non-allotment of the said amount to the concerned police department.

Rehman said that the once the aid is received from the stategovernment, it will be paid through the treasury to the recipients.

He added that at the police commissionerate, the police commissioner is empowered to announce a reward upto Rs 25,000.u00a0
