The much talked about and highly anticipated Sanjay Leela Bhansali directorial Padmaavat finally released yesterday. After much back and forth on the release date, the Ranveer Singh, Deepika Padukone, and Shahid Kapoor starrer opening to mixed reactions with certain sections of the audience flocking theatres, while in other territories the film failed to secure a single show due to protests.

However, despite the hurdles Padmaavathas opening on a good note. In this box office analysis we take a look at the opening day collections of Padmaavatwhile comparing the same to the collections of Ranveer Singh's previous releases. Collecting Rs. 19 cr Padmaavat has now become Ranveer Singh’s highest opening day grosser. In fact the collections of Padmaavat have manage to surpass the collections of Ranveer’s earlier releases like Gunday that collected Rs. 16.12 cr, Goliyon Ki Raasleela Ram-Leela that collected Rs. 16 cr, Bajirao Mastani that collected Rs. 12.80 cr, Dil Dhadkne Do that collected Rs. 10.53 cr, Befikre that collected Rs. 10.36 cr, Kill Dil that collected Rs. 6.53 cr, Lootera that collected Rs. 5.15 cr, Ladies Vs Ricky Bahl that collected Rs. 4.74 cr and Band Baaja Baaraat that had collected Rs. 0.95 cr.

A point to be noted here is the fact that the revenue from the paid previews of Rs. 5 cr has not been included in the opening day collections of the film. While Padmaavat has taken off on a good note, now all that remains to be see is whether the film eventually does release in the other objecting markets in India and whether it does become the first Rs. 200 cr grosser of 2018.
