Officials of the Ulhasnagar-1 police station said on Monday evening Kalani and his bodyguards allegedly manhandled Ulhasnagar Municipal Corporation (UMC) Demolition Squad chief Yuvraj Bhadane and Assistant Municipal Commissioner Sagar Gholap. Kalani was unhappy with these officials, as Bhadane had booked one of his aides under the MRTP Act for allegedly constructing party’s ‘jansampark karyalaya’ without necessary permissions last week.
They said when Gholap went to execute demolition of the structure on Monday, Kalani appeared along with his bodyguards and opposed the demolition. He then followed the officials to a nearby hotel where they had gone to have tea and assaulted them. The hotel was just 100 metres away from the police station.
Later, based on Bhadane’s complaint, officials booked Kalani under Sections 147, 149, 353, 332, 427 of the Mumbai Police Act and Section 37 (3) and 135 of the IPC (FIR copy with MiD DAY). He was arrested and produced in the court, where he was granted bail of Rs 5,000. u00a0Kalani then lodged a cross-complaint against Bhadane and Gholap and the duo was booked under Sections 385 and 34 of the IPC. u00a0While Bhadane was admitted to civic hospital citing ill health, Gholap is absconding. u00a0
