The Rawal household is currently in celebratory mode as Aditya, son of famous actor Paresh Rawal, has returned from Bhopal where he led the Mumbai University team to a third place finish at the West Zone football tournament.

Paresh and Aditya share a terrific bond of togetherness. "Our relationship is more like that of friends (rather) than of a typical father and son one. We are lucky to share each other's interests, so we always enjoy doing things together," Sr Rawal told MiD DAY.

"I am extremely proud of him. I am very supportive of him and will always encourage him to go all the way in whatever field he chooses. I haven't seen him play much. He never lets us watch him play! He feels it would make him nervous! But, I have always enjoyed playing cricket with him ever since he could hold a bat," said Rawal.

However, Aditya doesn't look too keen to follow in his father's footsteps. "I was always a sportsperson and never gave acting a serious thought. I started playing football for my school (Jamnabai Narsee) when I was in Class II. And before I joined Kenkre Football Club in 2009, I was very serious about cricket. Everybody thought that I would become a cricketer, as I had trained under Chandrakant Pandit and Mohinder Amarnath in my younger days."

But Aditya credits his current achievements to his football coach Adib Kenkre. "I felt really proud when I was named the Mumbai University captain, but it was Adib sir who spotted my football talent and convinced my parents to allow me to switch to football from cricket," added the 19-year-old HR College student.

Adib Kenkre is all praises for his protegee. He said, "Despite being a celebrity kid, Aditya has no starry tantrums. He is focussed in what he does and has all the qualities to become a great player. He has come through the right channelu00a0-- playing at the school, university and club levels. And he is a player to watch out for in the future."

Being a goalkeeper, Aditya is a big fan of Juventus and Italy goalkeeper Gianluigi Buffon, but it is Wayne Rooney of Manchester United for Rawal Sr. "I want to lead the national side one day," said Aditya who rates his father's performance in Tamanna as one of his favourites. What Paresh likes in his son is his persistence and tenacity. But he dislikes him being messy.
