The incident that claimed the life of Siddarth Agrawal occurred on September 4.u00a0 A case was not registered earlier as it was considered a case of drowning and the police said they were still investigating the matter.
Girish Agrawal, a relative who claimed the body following the incident, said, "When we earlier visited the Mundhwa police station after the incident, we had given an application to lodge a complaint. But at that time, they refused to register it stating that the investigation was still on."

Asked about the case that was registered, Girish said, "The FIR was lodged but PI Devidas Patil, refused to lodge a complaint against the owner Jayant Pawar and suggested that we lodge a complaint against the management, since the case was already booked under section 304 A of IPC stating management negligence. His friends have always given the same statement."

One of Siddarth's friends, requesting anonymity said, "I along with two other friends who were present at the party, gave the statement that the incident occurred due to the absence of lifeguards at the venue."
Even after repeated calls and messages, Jayant Pawar was unavailable for comment. When contacted his manager Ahmed for Pawar's whereabouts, he said he had no information on the same.u00a0

However, PI Devidas Patil, Mundhwa police station, confirmed that the case has been registered against the management. When asked why the case was not registered against the owner, Patil said, "The management and the absent lifeguard is responsible for the incident."
