A 23-year-old man, Nitin Ghuge, was bludgeoned to death in Sangavi yesterday by his friends over a petty dispute.

The police arrested one suspect, Santosh Shinde, after Ghuge’s mother Durga lodged a complaint against him with the Sangavi police station.

The police said another person, Sunil, was involved in the scuffle, but managed to escape from the spot. “On Monday, Nitin, a resident of Sangavi, had some dispute with Santosh and Sunil and the dispute turned into an ugly brawl,” Police Inspector Shataram Tayde of the Sangvi police station said. “Santosh and Sunil threatened Nitin that they would take revenge by killing him and left the place.”

The body of Nitin was found near a crematorium ground in Sangavi yesterday morning.  After Ghuge’s mother had lodged the complaint against Sunil and Shinde, the police arrested Shinde under Section 302 (murder) of the IPC and launched a manhunt for Sunil.
