Members of police housing society allege their colleagues didn't act on cheating complaint they filed against a builder.

IT seems even the cops can't come in the way of the greed of some realtors in the city.

Members of a police co-operative housing societyu00a0 have alleged that a builder has been cheating them for the past three years and that the police have failed to take action against the accused despite several complaints.

The society is located within the police headquarter premises at Nrupathunga Road.

C Motiram, its president and a former Additional Director General of Police himself, has alleged that the builder, Sai Constructions, has cheated the society.

Agreement
He said the society entered into a Memorandum of Understanding of Rs 50 lakh with Sai Constructions to procure 18 lakh square feet of land for sites for its members in 2007.

As per the agreement, the society paid him Rs 5 lakh in advance and agreed to pay the rest after the land was procured.

However, the owner of the company, Santosh PK, neither gave them the land nor returned the advance amount.

"Santosh sought more time initially and then started evading us. After failing to get a response, the society members, who are serving and former police officers, approached Chandra Layout police for help.

They failed to act despite filing a complaint of cheating," said Motiram.

Taking strong exception to this, Motiram complained to the Deputy Commissioner of Police (West), who directed the Chandra Layout police to take action immediately.

It may be recalled that Director General of Police Ajai Kumar Singh had asked the general public to approach higher-ups if police officers refuse to file complaints and assured stringent action against erring officers.
