Police question 16-yr-old's close friend
A day after the inconclusive autopsy report failed to ascertain the exact cause of Puja Vilas Jadhav's (16) death, officials from Chaturshrungi police station interrogated her close her close friend from Aurangabad yesterday.
“We called Puja’s friend from Aurangabad for interrogation and are cross-checking statements given by the friend and family members. Her viscera was despatched for chemical analysis and the report is expected soon.
We are also scrutinising call detail records of her parents and relatives, as we are investigating the case from all possible angles,” Police Inspector Subhash Nikam of Chaturshrungi police station said.
Nikam said while the autopsy report had ruled out the possibility of rape, it did not ascertain the exact cause of Puja’s death. He added that since the report was inconclusive, they could not record Puja’s death as a murder.
Sources in the police station said when Puja’s body was discovered, her clothes gave an impression that she had scuffled with some, suggesting the investigators that it could be a possible murder.
Daughter of an ex-service man, Puja’s elder brother Vicky discovered her body on a vacant plot next to their residence in Pasahn-Sutarvadi on Sunday afternoon, a day after she failed to return home from her maths tuitions in Gol Market on Saturday evening.
