An alleged case of molestation on the sets of a mixed martial arts tournament in the city led to supporters of a political party swooping in to increase the tension at the venue

While a crowd had gathered to watch the tournament in action, someone from among the hordes of people tried to misbehave with a female staffer. After the bouncers took matters in their own hands and allegedly beat up the guy, sources say party workers of Maharashtra Navnirman Sena attacked the sets, vandalising property and even apparently damaging cars, on of them belonging to Shilpa Shetty’s husband, Raj Kundra.

According to sources, the last bout of the ongoing game was on at the Filmalaya Studio in Andheri when the fight broke out. Says an insider, “The MNS workers arrived atop trucks, damaged property and recording equipments and cars and even beat up the security personnel. All guests and the audience had to be locked up on the top floor for their own safety. The party workers damaged Kundra’s vehicle.”

TV personality Raghu Ram was also present at the venue along with Kundra. The two parties clashed for about 45 minutes until Kundra stepped out to speak to them. While the incident could not be brought under control, cops had to be called in, leading to the MNS workers fleeing the spot. Says a guest, on conditions of anonymity, “There was chaos on the sets. We were locked up immediately and didn’t know what was going on.” Raj Kundra remained unavailable for comment.
