He has dressed Priyanka Chopra, Alia Bhatt, Deepika Padukone and Sonam Kapoor. The New York-based couturier Prabal Gurung also counts Hollywood stars like Jennifer Lawrence and Anne Hathaway as his clients. The Nepalese-American designer now reportedly finds himself caught in a controversy after a former employee, Melissa Teitel, alleged that the designer made critical comments about her body and pregnancy.

Teitel, who worked as director of sales in 2015, claims Gurung shamed her for her pregnancy, eating habits and her changing body. After her delivery, she says, Gurung allegedly terminated her services. Teitel's story is not of sexual harassment, but in the time of the #MeToo campaign highlighting women's treatment in the workplace, Teitel feels her case also deserves attention.
