Premature to read too much into unaccounted IPL money, says Shah

The Indian Premier League's Governing Council found a few irregularities when it met yesterday to look at the accounts of the Indian Premier League's third edition.

According to sources, theu00a0 GC found that Rs 76 crore and 22 lakh generated through sale of hospitality tickets for the semi-finals, third place match and the final was not accounted for.

IPL vice-chairman Niranjan Shah, however, refused to look seriously into this matter. "It is too premature to confirm any of these reports. We discussed accounts pertaining to the 2010 IPL, and that's about it. Now, they shall be presented at the AGM on Wednesday," Shah said.

Shah said that the hearing of the three-member disciplinary committee ufffd that is currently probing suspended IPL commissioner Lalit Modi for financial irregularities ufffd will be moving to Mumbai.

"It will continue tomorrow and will be wrapped up by the AGM on Wednesday," he said. "By then we hope to finish all the proceedings, and will also confirm if any of these reports are true," Shah said yesterday.

If the reports are true, it is likely to further spoil Modi's case.

The elections for BCCI posts are to be held during the AGM tomorrow and in all probability, interim chairman Chirayu Amin will be given permanent leadership while the tenure of the GC will also be reduced to one year.
