Kobe: Hinting at more action to unearth black money, PM Modi on Saturday said those holding unaccounted money will not be spared and there is no “guarantee” that no further steps would be taken after December 30, till when people can deposit the old high denomination (OHD) notes.
“There is no guarantee that something new will not be introduced to punish you (thikane lagane ke liye),” he said. Modi termed the demonetisation as “Swachhata Abhiyan” and hailed the undaunting spirit of people despite their hardship following its announcement on November 8.
Rs 2 lakh cr deposited till Saturday noon
Finance Minister Arun Jaitley said around Rs 2 lakh crore has been deposited till 12.15 pm on Saturday in banks across the country. “SBI saw deposits of Rs 47,868 crore till Saturday afternoon,” he said. He once again denied the rumours about digital lockers and chips being fitted in the new notes.
Mamata pens poem on demonetisation
Bengal CM Mamata Banerjee, who visited some banks and ATMs in Kolkata on Saturday, has penned a poem on demonetisation. She posted the poem on Twitter, while demanding rollback of the “black policy”. AAP chief Arvind Kejriwal also demanded rollback of the policy.
