Bollywood actress Priyanka Chopra has shared a photo of herself with her late grandmother on Instagram and it is sure to move you.


Priyanka Chopra, who lost her maternal grandmother Madhu Jyotsna Akhouri on June 3, shared the photo with a message that read, "I will always remember you with that big smile on your face and the shine in your eyes.. Rest in Peace Nani . We love you."

The mortal remains of Priyanka's grandmother has been laid to rest at the cemetery of a church in Kottayam.

Akhouri, a freedom fighter, social activist and a former MLA, had turned 94 on May 28.

 

As she had expressed her wish to be be laid to rest in her home state, Kerala, her body was brought here for the last rites.

A number of relatives including Priyanka, flew down from Mumbai to perform the last rites yesterday.

Born as Mary in Kavalappara family at Kumarakom here, Madhu Jyotsna Akhouri had gone to Bihar as nurse and later married Dr Akhouri.

Besides Priyanka's mother Madhu Chopra, she is survived by two other dauthers and a son.

After completing the shoot of 'Quantico' season one and her debut Hollywood film, 'Baywatch', Priyanka had reached Mumbai on May 27 to attend to her work commitments here. However, after receiving the news of her grandmother's demise, she suspended all work, including brand shoots and script narrations, for a few days.
