Manikchand Yadav is absconding after abusing two Std VIII girls who did not want to run during a PT class in a Kurla school due to injury and tiredness.
“If you throw a tantrum I will strip you down and parade you naked in front of boys” -- believe it or not, this is the punishment that a PT teacher in a Kurla school threatened to mete out to two female students, when they refused to run during their PT test. The teacher, identified as Manikchand Yadav, also allegedly touched the girls inappropriately when they said they would not follow his instructions.

According to the police, the incident took place on Wednesday evening in course of PT tests at the school grounds. The two students, both 13-year-olds, study in Std VIII. They were scheduled to attend their Marathi class at 5.30 pm, but the class was taken over by Yadav on the pretext of conducting a PT test.

Yadav then took the entire class to the school grounds and asked them to run. When one of the girls said she couldn’t run as her foot was injured, Yadav gave a shocking reply: “Zyada natak mat kar nahi to kapde utar doonga (If you throw tantrums, I’ll take off your clothes).”
“My niece was petrified. She was rendered speechless by this statement from her teacher. Is this how a teacher talks to his students? This is totally unacceptable,” said the victim’s uncle, requesting anonymity.
While the other girls were sprinting, one of them ran out of breath and stopped midway.
Yet again, Yadav hurled the same threat at her, this time adding that he would parade her naked in front of boys. The girls also complained that he touched them inappropriately during the ordeal.
The shocked students went home and complained to their families about the abuse.
The outraged parents then approached the school authorities and complained about Yadav. The police were also informed, after which a case was registered at Nehru Nagar police station. Yadav, who got the wind of the case, fled from the school premises. He has been untraceable since.
“We have registered the case of under Section 354 of the IPC for assault or criminal force to woman with intent to outrage her modesty. We have also levied Section 8 of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act, for sexual assault for which the punishment is not less than three years and may extend to five years, with or without a fine. The accused is absconding, the team sent to arrest him from his Badlapur residence failed to locate him,” said Inspector Vilas Shinde of Nehru Nagar police station.
The victim’s relative added, “We bear no grudges against the school as the authorities have supported us and helped us punish the errant teacher. The entire faculty cannot be blamed for one pervert like Yadav.”
