From today onwards, over 4,000 students of College of Engineering will be able to use the 'Combo Card'
At a time when the entire nation is moving towards digitisation, College of Engineering, Pune, has come up with a unique concept called the 'Combo Card'. This multipurpose card will play the role of both an identity card and debit card. More than 4,000 students of the college will be able to use the cards distributed among them from today.

According to sources, the 'Combo Card' will have the student's photograph, biometric information, Aadhar and Pan details, blood group and college enrolment number.
Speaking to mid-day, B B Ahuja, director and professor of the college, said, "After this idea of combining the identity card and bank debit card came to my mind, we collaborated with the State Bank of India. It took us three months to work on this project."
He further said, "This card will also help students to connect with the college after they leave. It will give them access to the library, laboratory and hostel. Apart from this, it will also help them conduct the transactions related to the stipends and scholarships they receive."
When contacted, Professor S L Patil, dean, said, "It is a unique concept. The card will not only give students access to all departments of the college, but will also allow them to carry out bank transactions. The card has a radio frequency identification chip, which will scan all the necessary details."
