A gang of eight to ten dacoits targeted flats in societies located in Baner, Sangvi and Punavale on from 2.30 am to 4 am yesterday. The miscreants decamped with a total of 237 grams of gold valuables.

Subol Sale (29), a resident of Arunai apartment in Vishalnagar, Shivram Dnyanoba Dhavale (45), from Punavale, and Sushma Yagnik (45), a resident of Baner, have lodged FIRs in this regard at Sangvi, Hinjewadi and Chatuhshrungi police stations respectively. Police commissioner Satish Mathur visited the societies last morning along with other senior officers.

According to police, the perpetrators targeted Yagnik’s flat at Christen Garden society in Baner at 2.30 am and stole 70 grams of gold ornaments.

They then went to Sale’s flat in Arunai apartment around 3.30am. When Subol’s mother raised an alarm, the robbers threatened the family with a sharp weapon and beat them up. They took 77 grams of gold ornaments and some cash.

Third time lucky
In the third incident at Mayakka Classic building at Punavale, Shivram Dhavale’s wife Maya and daughter Rutuja (16) received minor injuries, after the culprits manhandled them. Valuables worth Rs 1.12 lakh in total were stolen from the house. The robbers then locked the flat’s door from the outside, and fled from the spot in a car, which was later found abandoned at Punavale road.
