Mallikarjun Kharge didn’t give Pune too many reasons to celebrate in his interim railway budget yesterday.

Three new trains were announced for the city in today’s budget, including Howrah-Pune AC Express (bi-weekly) via Nagpur, Manmad; Gorakhpur-Pune Express (weekly) via Lucknow, Kanpur, Bina, Manmad; and Pune-Lucknow Express (weekly) via Khandwa, Bhopal, Bina, Jhansi, Kanpur.

New lines have been proposed under Pune division for two routes: Pune-Baramati via Saswad, Jejuri, Moregaon, and Pune-Ahmednagar via Kegdaon Kasti. Doubling of Pune-Kolhapur line has also been proposed.
