Days after an on-duty police constable offered MNS chief Raj Thackeray a rose at a rally at Girgaum Chowpatty in Mumbai on Tuesday, several police families, including more than 50 police children, retired personnel and wives of serving officials, among others, from Swargate and Khadak police lines supported Thackeray and his party's stand.

Delegation to meet Raj
A delegation led by Assistant Police Inspector Anna Sakore has decided to meet Thackeray personally and extend their support for the cause. “Since independence, lower ranking police officers are living in abysmal condition and the government has turned a blind eye to our issues.u00a0

But now there is a silver lining in the form of Raj Thackeray and we are sure that he will support police,” said Sakore. “After hearing his speech, several house wives, retired police officers, our children, who are currently serving in the force decided to support Raj Thackeray. We then called a meeting of some 400 residents from both the police lines and decided to support him.”

Sakore said after the introduction of Sixth Pay Commission, the salaries of the police personnel were increased up to Rs 20,000. But the state government scrapped the pension facility.

“We will request Thackeray to question the government about the withdrawal of pension scheme,” Sakore said. Ashish Sable, son of police personnel, said there were multiple issues, including duty hours, education facilities for police kids, and basic health facilities police personnel families, among others, need to be addressed.

“Earlier, there was a reserve quota for police boys in police recruitment. But recently the state government scrapped it and brought us into general category. We will discuss the issue with Thackeray in our meeting,” Sable said.u00a0
