Lalit Modi, the suspended boss of the Indian Premier League, yesterday suggested that the upcoming Champions League T20 and next year's IPL should be put "on hold" till the sport is free of corruption.

“IPL 7 and current upcoming CL should be put on hold till full and complete cleansing of BCCI and IPL is done. One cannot continue to take fans for a ride,” Modi wrote Twitter.

Reacting to the admission of Rajasthan Royals co-owner Raj Kundra in betting, Modi said: “Rule is simple. If an owner in involved in betting, he should be terminated. The rules on this have no ambiguity. Betting is a no no.”
