Word is that Rajkumar Hirani was initially not keen to have Sanjay Dutt on board as co-producer of the star's biopic starring Ranbir Kapoor. The filmmaker felt he should be given a free hand in the making of the film as he knows him well since their Munna Bhai days.

Sources say Dutt was taken aback and went to producer Vidhu Vinod Chopra to express his reservations. He made it clear that he took offence to Hirani's stance. Chopra then intervened and Dutt was kept on board. At a recent event, Dutt took everyone by surprise when he said he was not helping Ranbir with prep.

To which Hirani reportedly said that Sanju Baba was joking in his usual style. Add to this earlier buzz about Dutt saying at a bash that he wanted to make a film with RK titled Laddoo. He also said he would follow up with Imarti, Jalebi and Peda. Dutt was alleged to have mocked Ranbir's 2012 film, Barfi!
