Rampaul, who arrived at the ground with his teammates yesterday, was already suffering from food poisoning and had to be diagnosed further. He was admitted to the Calcutta Medical Research Institution hospital, where Dr Anirban Chatterjee is treating him.u00a0

"He (Rampaul) is suffering from a stomach infection. It's a case of food poisoning. Also, because he didn't eat anything since last (Saturday) night, he is feeling dehydrated. We will monitor him for 24 hours," he told MiD DAY.

Philip Spooner, media manager of the West Indies, said the team would decide on Rampaul's availability for the Test after getting the medical report today morning. "He is not well and has been hospitalised for further diagnosis. We will be in a position to give further update on him after getting the medical diagnosis," Spooner said.

West Indies skipper Darren Sammy said the management was mulling over a second spin option in Shane Shillingford in place of the ill pacer.
